You have heard it often, alone at your desk
In a green April, your mind drawn
Away from its work by sweet disturbance
Of the mild evening outside your room.
Thank you for visiting my website
I am available to help you mark that special occasion in a life. While I am more than happy to help with naming ceremonies and weddings, my formal training with Terri Negus of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants is for funerals and this is the main focus of my enterprise.
My logo is a blackbird because some twenty years ago, I read RS Thomas’s poem ‘A Blackbird singing’ at my father’s funeral. He always loved birds and had a special affection for the song of the blackbird, so familiar in the garden.
Why a Civil Celebrant ?
In the past, the priest looked after families wanting ceremonies but now people prefer more freedom to design occasions that are personal and creative. At the same time, many may not want to sign up to a straightforwardly atheist or strictly non-religious agenda and want to mix ideas from both spiritual and non-spiritual traditions.
A civil celebrant is neither a priest nor a Humanist. A civil celebrant is there for you, to help construct a meaningful ceremony that sits comfortably with you and your family. I can weave in elements from any or all religious traditions, and any or all ideas of identity. It is what you want, not what I believe or want.
